Performing Arts in Key Stage 3
Curriculum Intent: ‘Enriching opportunities for all’.
The vision is to spark creativity and confidence in all. We aim to engage and inspire students to develop a love of the The vision is to spark creativity and confidence in all children. We aim to engage and inspire students to develop a love of the performing arts, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity, and sense of achievement. To encourage young people to work collaboratively, to be disciplined and determined in their craft, to take risks, to solve problems independently and to demonstrate resilience; for students to be confident in front of others, to trust their instincts and ideas, to be excellent communicators and show empathy towards others. To build a toolbox of knowledge and skills which they can implement starting at KS1, through KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5 and beyond. Students should foster a lifelong interest and appreciation of Performing Arts and work with the CIAG team to develop their love further; and be familiar with a range of employment opportunities within Performing Arts to gather an interest from a wider range of students. Work with the Primary School to ensure students have opportunities to perform form a young age. We want SEND students to feel like they can achieve in Performing Arts and that it can be a subject that makes them feel welcome and safe; we want them to know they can thrive no matter their individual needs.
