Match Report: Year 11 Football A League Final

Hailsham Community College vs Seaford

Venue: The Oval

Date: Thursday 20th March 2025

Result: A WIN for HCC

In a highly anticipated final, Hailsham Community College travelled to the Oval to face Seaford in the Year 11 Football A League. The first half was characterised by nerves of the big occasion resulting in a scrappy and disjointed play, the half concluded goalless. Some stern words and tactical adjustments were necessary during the break to lift the morale and motivation of each and every player to play the way we knew they can.

The team responded brilliantly, dominating the first 15 minutes of the second half. Hailsham’s players covered every blade of grass, consistently beating their opponents to the ball. This surge in performance was rewarded when HP finished expertly after being assisted by CD.

Seaford quickly equalized with a superb strike from the edge of the area, beating FC at his near post. As the match seemed destined for penalties, TK produced a moment of magic. He controlled the ball, turned his defender, and calmly slotted it into the bottom corner, a world class finish that secured the trophy for Hailsham.

This victory is a fitting reward for a dedicated group of lads who have worked hard, stuck together, and grown as a team over the past few school years. The team were a fantastic ambassadors for our College.

Man of the Match: JE, for a colossal performance across the backline.

Mr Wilkinson’s Comment: “I am one very proud coach tonight!”

Congratulations to Hailsham Community College on their well-deserved triumph!
