Here at Hailsham Community College we offer our Sixth Form students a personalised programme of support to help them prepare for university. This begins in Year 12 with a visit to the UCAS convention, held at the University of Sussex, which affords them access to information from over 100 different institutions. This is followed up by a UCAS Day on site when students return from the exam season in June to enable them to begin their applications and personal statements well before the summer break begins.
Year 12 students are encouraged to apply for Summer Schools to help them make informed choices regarding universities and attain invaluable experiences at top universities. This is co-ordinated by Mrs Corbishley.
During Year 13 students receive individual feedback on their personal statement drafts from Mrs Cosham and support throughout the application process, including advice and preparation for interviews and entrance exams. Allotted times are also set aside for applicants on a weekly basis to access additional support in designated areas. We also offer additional help to those students applying to Oxford or Cambridge through our partnership with Eastbourne College.
